AIR FRYER TIPS

CURRENT AIR FRYER
Nuwave Brio 10Q
(The tips below are just based on my personal experience)

πŸ”Έ Line the bottom of the pan with foil for easy clean up. The Reynolds Wrapper precut sheets available from the $1 store fit perfectly in my Brio if you fold down about 2in but this will obviously depend on what size you have.

πŸ”Έ Use steamer basket parchment paper rounds (Amazon) in the basket for easy clean up while still maintaining good air flow. Put these in AFTER preheating and make sure they are well weighted down when using to avoid them getting too close to the element.

πŸ”Έ DON'T OVERFILL - I don't care what the picture of overflowing fries looks like in the ads - single layer only or you need to do lots of shuffling to allow even air flow.
πŸ”Έ Always Preheat (use the Preheat function of it has it or turn it on for 2-3min before cooking if not... It just works better.
πŸ”Έ Accessories - If you can put it in your oven, it is generally safe in the air fryer. That includes foil loaf tins, baking trays, racks etc - anything that fits comfortably.
πŸ”Έ I cook 95% of things on 375°- 400°. Timing depends on the wattage of your fryer, the temp, the item itself, the weight and how you want it cooked.
Some guides say 325°-350° for certain items but I don't find that true. I find it better to underestimate and add time than set it too long and forget about it.
For me a medium rare cut of steak is maybe 8-12min, shrimp are about 5min, salmon/fish is 5-10min, pork chops are 12-15min, lrg chicken leg quarters are 30-40min, roast vegetables depending on type are 8-15min.
With your meat, keep an eye on it visually and check the temp in the thickest part until it comes to temp.

πŸ”Έ Invest in a digital meat thermometer. You can get them anywhere and they will be your best friend in knowing if something is cooked properly.
πŸ”Έ Anything with more than a 10-15min cook time should probably be turned mid way through. Start skin side down for anything with skin.
πŸ”Έ Don't spray cooking spray into the fryer. If you are using it - spray the food before putting it in.
πŸ”Έ And finally - don't be afraid to experiment. Get a free Air Fryer cookbook from Amazon or use Pinterest or any of the bazillion food blogs on Google... Or ask here...

These can be great little fryers if you can get comfortable using them.
I hope this helps!
